Cloverdale Rodeo and Fair

Here we are attempting to watch the Lumberman Show
Watching the go-carts, can't wait until he's old enough to drive them!
Miko enjoying his first midway ride- helicopters :)

He looked a little scared at first but he kept wanting 'More ride'

Miko's First Race Day

We took Miko to the Langley BMX track a couple of weekends ago.  It was so much fun that I am going to start riding too!
All these little guys are 2 or 3 years old and they race what's called the 'half track'.  One parent is allowed to help the child through the course if needed.  Most of the little guys needed help getting up the last big hill, but they all did great.  You could tell which ones have been doing the races for awhile, and which kids were relatively new.
See all the Dads running behind?  :)
Here's Luke helping Miko down the big hill. He was scared at first but was doing it all by himself by the last run.
They make it so fun for everyone, as a parent, I was itching to get out and ride too!  They have announcers that have a running commentary during the race so all the kids get to hear their names. They also have official racing plates on the front of their bikes and they get a toy/trophy at the end.
Pretty much all the kids and adults had huge smiles plastered across their faces :)

They also have a little pump track for the kids to practice on while they are bored/waiting to race.
We will be going back for sure, and next time, I hope to join him.

We had a picnic at Bear Creek Park last week.

We explored the gardens and played on the playground

We ended up at Richmond Country Farm on Mothers Day.

We also checked out Terra Nova Adventure playground.
And explored the Nature trails there...
One night when Luke was putting Miko to bed, I went to sit at the Ocean side.  Such a beautiful, serene setting.

 Look at my wheelie Mama!
We found this super cool fort in the woods near our house.

Life Lately

Miko is using my old MP3 player as a pretend cell phone

A couple of weeks ago we rented a row boat on Deer Lake and had a great time.
Miko had his concerned face on the whole time. But, of course, as soon as we are done, he wants 'More boat!'

Luke had fun being a 'sea captain' again ;)

Cool view of the city skyline
 Lots of lily pads
And a turtle sunning himself on a log
It feels like full on summer here, so we went to the beach, along with tons of others who had the same idea.

 Someone likes homemade popsicles!

BrickCan 2016 - My First Lego Convention

I recently attended my first Lego conference after becoming an AFOL last fall. BrickCan was absolutely amazing, especially since it was the first of (hopefully) many more to come. The four days just flew by and I'm still so filled with inspiration and motivation from all of it.

That's 'The Wall' from Game of Thrones up there, which one the People's Choice award. Congrats guys!  That wall sure has a presence!
Birds eye view of the show floor.
Huge pirate scene from the Abbotsford LUG
This was my favourite MOC of the show, I love steampunk and movement - although I am very intimidated by technic and motors.... You can't tell from this pic, but the waterfall 'falls' down the cliff, the elevator lift on the left goes up and down, and the water on the ground moves with waves!  Congrats Ray for winning best in Show!
This is one of my all-time favourite collaborative MOC's.  Alice Finch has been an inspiration to me since I came out of my Dark Ages.
I participated in my first Speed-build contest and also my first 'Draft'.  Both were extremely enjoyable!
Some of the creations were just huge in their size and scope, next year I am going to go bigger!
That's my Elves treehouse MOC on the left, quite small but I love it.
This tree still blows my mind... so beautiful
This is the VLC's group MOC that we submitted, such a great idea and collaborative effort!  My classroom is there, along with many other rooms, I was so proud to be a part of it.
This beauty was crafted by Anuradha Pehrson - My new source of inspiration!  I just love her style, her use of colour, and interesting architecture.
I took Miko with me on the last day so he could have some fun in the kids area.

And of course he had to try cotton candy for the first time ;)
